LG Electronics Inc. is set to transform its in-house chatbot service into a powerful artificial intelligence (AI) agent, aiming to reduce repetitive work and enhance productivity.
Originally developed to handle basic internal functions such as welfare inquiries and meeting room bookings, the chatbot service will now evolve into a generative AI-powered platform capable of managing complex tasks.
This shift is part of the company’s broader digital transformation strategy centered on AI.
“We will aim to give employees back their time through AI,” said the company’s CEO Cho Joo-wan on Wednesday. “By eliminating inefficiencies and inertia, we want our people to focus on high-value tasks and devote more time to developing their expertise and capabilities.”
His remarks were made during an internal communication event, where he announced LG’s ambitious AI transition plan.
Cho positioned the full digitalization of LG Electronics as the company’s vision for AI transformation, or AX.
AX refers to applying AI across work methods and processes to maximize both efficiency and specialization.
Through this initiative, LG Electronics aims to reduce about 30 percent of its total workload within the next two to three years.
The upgraded chatbot will function as an AI agent capable of interpreting user commands, breaking them into actionable tasks, and executing them as a smart assistant.
A major enhancement planned for later this year includes a personal assistant feature that leverages employees’ work data stored in email and cloud servers.
LG Electronics also plans to expand the AI agent’s capabilities into specialized domains such as legal review of advertising copy, sales and marketing strategy analysis, supply chain intelligence, and software code support.
