SEOUL -- K-pop girl band BLACKPINK has reached a consensus with its agency "YG Entertainment" to carry on with its group activities. The four-member band is currently discussing with its agency regarding the possibility of each member continuing individual activities.

"We are happy to maintain our relationship with BLACKPINK," YG Entertainment's head Yang Hyun-suk said after signing the agreement with the group. The producer added: "BLACKPINK members will continue to strive to shine even brighter in the global music market, representing not only our company but also K-pop."

While BTS is recognized as the leading K-pop boy band, BLACKPINK has become an iconic girl band leading the K-pop fandom. Since its debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has released various hit songs, including "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Whistle," and "How You Like That." The group became the first K-pop band to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2019.

In November 2023, BLACKPINK received a prestigious British order from King Charles III for its significant contributions to raising awareness about global climate change. The iconic girl group served as the ambassador for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, a global summit chaired by Britain to address environmental challenges.
