Samsung SDS has been selected as the first domestic reseller partner for ChatGPT Enterprise, stepping up support for artificial intelligence transformation among Korean companies.
The move marks the first tangible outcome of broader cooperation pledged in October, when Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong met OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in Korea and agreed to expand collaboration across the AI value chain. The partnership goes beyond semiconductor supply, spanning infrastructure through to end-user solutions.
Samsung SDS said Tuesday it signed a reseller agreement with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Enterprise to Korean companies. The enterprise-grade version of ChatGPT offers enhanced security by excluding input and output data from model training, while enabling customized GPT development and advanced data analytics tailored to corporate needs. As the local reseller, Samsung SDS will provide consulting, technical support, and security services, and will also assist companies seeking to use OpenAI’s APIs in system design and deployment.
While some large Korean firms have adopted ChatGPT Enterprise directly from OpenAI, mid-sized companies and startups have faced barriers related to system architecture and security requirements. Industry sources said Samsung SDS’s involvement is expected to significantly accelerate AI transformation, particularly for firms lacking in-house capabilities.
Samsung SDS is the first of four Samsung affiliates that signed a letter of intent with OpenAI in October to move forward with cooperation. The remaining affiliates—Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Heavy Industries—are also expected to pick up speed, collaborating on areas including semiconductors, data centers, cloud services, and maritime technologies. Samsung Electronics plans to supply memory chips for OpenAI’s global AI infrastructure project, Stargate, while Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung C&T are jointly researching floating AI data centers. Samsung SDS will also collaborate on data center design and construction.
