SK telecom, SK AX sign AI cloud partnership with AWS

SK telecom Co. and SK Inc. AX have signed a strategic agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to strengthen their position in the burgeoning artificial intelligence (AI) cloud sector, the companies said on Thursday.

Under the agreement, the three entities will collaborate on AI infrastructure, hybrid cloud services, and customized enterprise AI solutions.

SK telecom will combine its telecommunications network and in-house AI technologies with SK AX’s sector-specific AI deployment capabilities and AWS’s global cloud infrastructure and AI service portfolio.

The companies said they plan to deliver tailored AI systems for industries including finance, gaming, the public sector, and startups, with a focus on adapting services to the operational needs of corporate clients.

A key element of the partnership is developing hybrid AI cloud environments. SK telecom aims to integrate its own AI resources—including proprietary GPU infrastructure—with AWS’s global cloud network.

SK telecom and SK AX said they will expand AWS-based cloud infrastructure and AI services over the next five years as they build expertise in cloud management and strengthen their position in the managed services market.
