Lotte Card lays out immediate response to cyber breach

Lotte Card said on Wednesday that it set up a 24-hour dedicated call center in response to a recent cyberattack. The company added a new ARS menu at its customer service line Tuesday to handle inquiries related to potential personal data leaks.

To strengthen support, the firm has extended call center hours until 10 p.m. to address requests for password changes, card reissuance, and account closure. It has also provided quick-access links on its app and website to enable customers to change passwords, block overseas transactions, and request card reissuance.

For account closures, however, Lotte Card noted that customers must speak directly with a representative to confirm outstanding balances, remaining points, and usage options. The company also pledged upfront compensation for any fraudulent transactions resulting from the breach.

Lotte Card said it deeply regrets the concern and inconvenience caused by the incident, adding it would strengthen monitoring of abnormal transactions and focus all resources on preventing consumer harm.
